Sonamarg
Sonamarg, often referred to as the "Meadow of Gold," is a mesmerizing hill station located in the Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir, India. Here's an overview of Sonamarg:
Sonamarg is situated at an altitude of approximately 2,800 meters (9,200 feet) above sea level in the Kashmir Valley.
It lies on the Srinagar-Leh Highway, about 80 kilometers (50 miles) northeast of Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.
The landscape of Sonamarg is characterized by lush green meadows, towering snow-clad mountains, and gushing rivers.
The Sindh River flows through the valley, adding to its scenic beauty.
Thajiwas Glacier: A major tourist attraction in Sonamarg, Thajiwas Glacier is located about 7 kilometers (4.3 miles) from the town. Visitors can reach the glacier by a pony ride or a short trek.
Nilagrad River: Known for its reddish waters, Nilagrad River is believed to have medicinal properties. Many tourists visit this picturesque spot for its serene ambiance.
